An unflinchingly raw and intimate portrait of the celebrated boundary pushing artist which blurs the border between reality and performance. Raised in Glasgow, Scotland, during the Margaret Thatcher era, Gordon is among the most important and influential artists of his generation. Best known for his films and large-scale video installations such as ”24 Hour Psycho” (1993) and ”Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait” (2006). Gordon reveals his soul and innermost thoughts whilst making new work and reflecting on his advancing years through spontaneous acts and conversation. As the filmmaker-subject relationship shifts from collaborative intimacy to a more complex dynamic we wonder: who is actually making this film?
Through this multifaceted portrait, we witness how Gordon has sacrificed everything for his art.

FINLAY PRETSELL ist fasziniert von der Authentizität und Unverfälschtheit des Dokumentarfilms. Er hat es sich zum Ziel gesetzt, die Zuschauer in Welten eintauchen zu lassen, zu denen sie normalerweise keinen Zugang hätten. 2007 gelang ihm mit dem Kurzfilm „Standing Start“ der Durchbruch als Filmemacher. Seine Filme wurden weltweit auf Festivals gezeigt. Sein Kinofilm „Time Trial“ (2017) beleuchtet den in Ungnade gefallenen Tour-de-France-Radfahrer David Millar – und entführt das Publikum ins Herz des Radsports. Der Dokumentarfilm wurde mehrfach ausgezeichnet. 2019 gründete er gemeinsam mit Sonja Henrici die Produktionsfirma Parcel of Rogues.
