Mahamat-Saleh Haroun
MAHAMAT-SALEH HAROUN (*1961 in Abeche, Tschad) musste während des Bürgerkriegs 1980 nach Kamerun fliehen, bevor er nach Paris ging. Er studierte am Conservatoire Libre du Cinema Français und absolvierte anschließend eine journalistische Ausbildung an der IUT in Bordeaux, bevor er sich in den 1990er Jahren der Regie zuwandte. Sein Spielfilmdebüt gab er 1999 mit „Bye-bye Africa“. Seine Filme wurden mehrfach mit Preisen ausgezeichnet. 2010 erhielt er u.a. auf der Mostra di Venezia den Robert-Bresson-Preis für sein Gesamtwerk und 2013 die Fellini-Medaille der UNESCO.
