Chaoren lives in a remote fishing village on Lake Loktak. Every day he paddles his canoe to school – until it has to be sold because of his father’s illness. But Chaoren refuses to be discouraged: he swims the long distance to school. When the government finally issues an eviction order and forces his family to leave their home, all that remains of his dreams are the fears of a displaced person.
