Konni (70) and Jasmin (43) are both part of the Wilhelmshaven dragon boat team “Küstenpinkies” – every woman in the boat has breast cancer or is affected by the late effects of the disease. This makes them part of the global “pink paddling” movement, as dragon boat racing has been proven to be physically and mentally highly beneficial in overcoming the disease and combating its long-term effects. For the “Küstenpinkies,” however, dragon boat paddling has become much more than just therapy. They are ambitious athletes with a clear goal: they want to win the Dragon Boat European Championship in Italy. A victory there would not only be a sporting achievement but also a personal triumph over their illness. „Pink Power“ is a story of healing, female solidarity, and athletic triumph.

CHIARA KEMPERS (*1995) hat Germanistik und Kunstgeschichte an der Universität Leipzig studiert. Seit fünf Jahren arbeitet sie als freie Autorin und Regisseurin für dokumentarische Formate. Sie hat u.a. mehrere Folgen für die arte-Formate „Unhappy“ und „Streetphilosophy“ realisiert, Beiträge für ZDF aspekte gedreht und an der Polit-Doku-Serie „Macht auf Zeit“ von ARD und SWR mitgewirkt. Mit „Pink Power“ gibt sie ihr Langfilmdebüt.
