The 26. International Filmfest Emden-Norderney came to a close with 23,500 visitors. "Even though we are not outscoring our record with 24,000 visitors in our jubilee edition, but still we can confidently look back to a tremendously succesful festival year," says Rolf Eckard, director of the festival, after evaluating first statistics. " On all festival days the visitor's quota was above those from the previous year - except for the festival's Friday which was surprisingly sunny with 33 degrees and lead to 300 visitors less.
Nevertheless, the audience's average votes were higher than ever in the festival's history, indicating the audience was content with the films in competition. "For us it is a reassurance that we are started off well into new festival era."
