PAWEL PAWLIKOWSKI wurde 1957 in Warschau geboren. Er wuchs in Großbritannien, Deutschland und Italien auf, bevor er sich 1977 in Großbritannien niederließ. Er studierte Literatur sowie Philosophie in London und Oxford. Seine Dokumentarfilme, die er u.a. für BBC drehte, haben internationale Preise gewonnen. Seine Spielfilme „Last Resort“ (2000) und „My Summer of Love“ (2014) wurden mit BAFTA Awards und zahlreichen weiteren Preisen auf Filmfestivals weltweit ausgezeichnet. „Ida“ lief 2015 beim Int. Filmfest Emden-Norderney und gewann u.a. den Oscar® als bester nicht-englischsprachiger Film sowie fünf Europäische Filmpreise, einen BAFTA Award und eine Goya-Auszeichnung.
