PIETRO MARCELLO (*1976 in Caserta, Italien) studierte zunächst Malerei an der Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Neapel, bevor er sich dem Film zuwandte. Seine Filme liefen auf internationalen Filmfestivals und erhielten mehrere Preisen und Nominierungen: Sein Kurzfilm „La Bocca del Lupo“ wurde 2009 mit dem „Teddy Award“ bei der Berlinale ausgezeichnet, „Bella e perduta – Eine Reise durch Italien“ lief 2015 beim Festival in Locarno und gewann den Junior Jury Award, „Martin Eden“ wurde 2019 für den Goldenen Löwen in Venedig nominiert und gewann den „Platform Prize“ des Toronto International Film Festival.
