When Ellen returns to her family home with her two brothers to settle the estate of her father – a renowned composer – old conflicts and repressed memories resurface. The dutiful Ellen tries to keep everything under control, but the past eludes her grasp. Whilst the youngest brother, Carlo – himself a composer – is plunged into an existential crisis by his father’s legacy, the middle brother struggles with loss and unfulfilled longings. Ellen’s daughter, Anna, in turn, seeks solace in music and in the memory of her grandfather. “Everything Must Go“ is a sensitive family drama that blends humour, warmth and melancholy. With great intimacy towards its characters, the film tells a story of loss and new beginnings, painting a multi-layered picture of sibling relationships – caught between conflict, affection and cautious reconciliation.

ARILD ØSTIN OMMUNDSEN (*1969 in Stavanger, Norwegen) ist ein norwegischer Filmregisseur und Drehbuchautor. 2001 gab er sein Spielfilmdebüt mit der erfolgreichen Komödie „Mongoland“. „It’s Only Make Believe“ (2013) wurde für zehn nationale Filmpreise nominiert, und „Now It’s Dark“ (2018) bestätigte seinen Ruf als einer der interessantesten Autorenfilmer Skandinaviens. Er schrieb das Drehbuch und führte gemeinsam mit seiner Frau und Co-Autorin Silje Salomonsen Regie bei dem Kinderfilm-Hit „Sisters! The summer we found our superpowers“ (2020), der mehrere internationale Festivalpreise gewann.
