The 20-year-old student Charlie returns to her family‘s chicken farm in Virginia to help her mother, who is afflicted by illness. Both have very different visions of life: while Charlie dedicates herself entirely to her studies in finance, Laura finds the greatest meaning in life in running their chicken farm. When Laura‘s eccentric and passionately feminist mother Solange appears on the family estate after a long absence, it presents the three women with significant challenges. Will they manage to live together, even though they seemingly have little in common? Marco La Via and Hanna Ladoul achieve a touching and entertaining comedy, featuring the magnificent Grand Dame Catherine Deneuve in a leading role.

MARCO LA VIA (*1990 in Santa Barbara, Vereinigte Staaten) ist ein französisch-amerikanischer Regisseur und Drehbuchautor. HANNA LADOUL (*1990 in Deutschland) ist in Paris und in der Normandie aufgewachsen. Nachdem sie Journalistik, Filmwissenschaften und Geschichte in Europa studiert haben, arbeiten und leben die beiden Filmschaffenden heute in Los Angeles. Nach ihrem gemeinsamen Kurzfilm „Diane from the Moon“ (2016) gaben sie 2018 mit „We the Coyotes“ beim 71. Festival de Cannes im Rahmen der ACID-Reihe ihr Spielfilmdebüt.
