Before entering a prestigious American university, Gabriel decides to travel the world for one year, his backpack full of dreams. After ten months on the road, he arrives in Kenya where he is joined by his girlfriend. But discovering Africa as a tourist is not enough for Gabriel. He decides to go deeper, leaving on his own for a journey across countries, new friendships and raw emotions to finally reach Mount Mulanje in Malawi, his – unexpectly – final destination.

FELLIPE BARBOSA wurde 1980 in Rio de Janeiro geboren und studierte in New York. Seine Kurzfilme „La Muerte es pequeña“ und „Salt Kiss“ liefen u.a. auf dem Sundance Film Festival, dem Clermont-Ferrand Kurzfilmfestival und auf dem New York Film Festival. 2007 wurde er vom Filmmaker Magazine unter die „25 New Faces of Independent Film“ gewählt. 2008 entwickelte er das Drehbuch zu „Casa grande“ während eines Workshops beim Sundance Film Festival. Der Film feierte Premiere im Wettbewerb von Rotterdam 2014. „Gabriel And The Mountain“ ist sein zweiter Langspielfilm.
