Parties, friends, boundless freedom – the summer holidays of a typical teenager. But not for the solitary Ivy, who prefers to keep to herself after beating cancer. For this reason, her overprotective parents enrol the 17-year-old in a four-week stay at the Children Run Free Camp for young people with cancer. Convinced that the worst time of her life lies ahead, Ivy moves into her accommodation at the ‘chemo camp’ and unexpectedly finds kindred spirits in a group of outsiders who quickly become friends. Together, they celebrate life and a summer they will never forget. “Sunny Dancer” is a modern coming-of-age story about friendship, love and overcoming adversity – and about what life has to offer when we cast aside our fears and open ourselves up to others.
