In a repressive three class-society, Paula is about to face the most important test of her life: she has to prove she deserves to be a Lead. She is at the top of her class at the Main Character School – but so far has failed in generating great emotional music. In search of a solution, she finds herself in the abyss of the cinematic world, on the fringes of the storyline and lost amongst the Outtakes.

SOPHIE LINNENBAUM (*1986 in Nürnberg) hat nach ihrem Psychologiestudium zunächst als Theaterautorin gearbeitet und dann Regie an der Filmuniversität Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF studiert. Sie dreht Serien und Dokumentarfilme, u.a. für das Content-Netzwerk von ARD und ZDF. Ihre Kurzfilme wurden vielfach ausgezeichnet – „Rien na vas plus“ lief 2018 beim Int. Filmfest Emden-Norderney und wurde mit dem Engelke Kurzfilmpreis der Sparkasse Emden ausgezeichnet. Ihr Dokumentarfilm „Väter unser“ wurde u.a. mit dem FFF Förderpreis Dokumentarfilm beim DOKFest München ausgezeichnet und war für den Deutschen Dokumentarfilmpreis nominiert. Mit „The Ordinaries“, ihrem ersten Langspielfilm, schließt sie ihr Regiestudium ab.
