Astrid is on the verge of making music history and fulfilling her late father’s dream: bringing together four world-famous Stradivarius violins for a concert for the very first time. Yet the harmony ends with the precious string instruments. The soloists engaged for the project may be virtuosos on their strings, but they cannot control their emotions. During rehearsals at the secluded château, vanity, old rivalries and artistic differences clash. To save the project of the century from failure, Astrid asks the eccentric composer Charlie Beaumont for help. With a wonderful ensemble of musicians and actors, as well as a score composed especially for the film, Grégory Magne unfolds a witty comedy about the art of playing together, both on stage and in life.

Grégory Magne
GRÉGORY MAGNE (*1976) überquerte 2007 allein den Atlantik auf einem 6,5 Meter langen Segelboot ohne Kommunikationsmittel. Er nahm eine Kamera mit, um seinen Alltag zu dokumentieren, woraus sein erster Film „Vingt-quatre heures par jour de mer“ entstand. Seither bewegt er sich als Grenzgänger zwischen Dokumentar- und Spielfilm sowie zwischen Drehbucharbeit und Regie. 2012 schrieb und inszenierte er gemeinsam mit Stéphane Viard seinen ersten Spielfilm „L’Air de Rien“. In seinem neuesten Spielfilm „Der Klang der Stradivari“ besetzte er echte Musiker und Musikerinnen, die die Mitglieder eines Streichquartetts verkörpern.
