Prisoner Billy Skinner returns to his old neighborhood in St. John‘s, Newfoundland, after being released from prison. There, he finds that the once respectable residential area has changed drastically in his absence, now dominated by crime and drug trafficking. The area has also become home to many refugees from Syria. Desperately, Billy tries to reconnect with his past life and rebuild his relationship with his son. In the process, he befriends Mohamed, a Syrian taxi driver, much to the suspicion of his neighbors, who dreams of a better life for his family and of opening his own „Barber Shop.“ In striking black-and-white imagery, „Skeet“ tells the story of two men struggling with their past while trying to find their place in a changed community.

NIK SEXTON (*1980 in St. John’s) ist ein kanadischer Regisseur und Autor. Seine ersten Kurzfilme waren bereits auf den großen Festivals in Toronto und Cannes vertreten und ebneten den Weg für größere Filmproduktionen. Ebenso ist er heute als Autor und Regisseur für Fernsehproduktionen tätig.
