Afghanistan in 2021, shortly before the Taliban’s return: Naru, the only female camerawoman at Kabul’s leading television station, is fighting for custody of her three-year-old son. Following her separation from her unfaithful husband, she has come to believe that there are no decent men in her country. She is all the more surprised when Qodrat, Kabul TV’s leading journalist, offers her a job opportunity. As the two of them criss-cross the city to report on their final days of freedom, sparks fly, and Naru begins to doubt her own judgement: could there perhaps be a decent man out there after all?

SHAHRBANOO SADAT (*1990 in Teheran) ist eine afghanischstämmige Regisseurin, Drehbuchautorin und Frauenrechtlerin. Ihr Kurzfilm „Vice Versa One (Yeke Varune)“ wurde 2011 in der Quinzaine des réalisateurs in Cannes gezeigt. Sie wurde als eine der jüngsten Teilnehmerinnen in die Cinéfondation-Residenz in Paris aufgenommen. Mit ihrem Spielfilm „Wolf and Sheep“ (2016), der bei den Filmfestspielen von Cannes Premiere feierte und mit dem Art Cinema Award ausgezeichnet wurde, erlangte sie internationale Aufmerksamkeit. 2022 war sie Mitglied der Jury für den Preis für den besten Erstlingsfilm der Berlinale. Shahrbanoo Sadat lebt und arbeitet in Hamburg.
